To call Gleason’s Gym in New York City a “mecca” of fighting is an understatement.
Nearly each vital fighter over a last half-century possibly schooled how to box during Gleason’s or lerned there in allege of one quarrel or another. Legendary fighters like Muhammad Ali, Roberto Duran, and Mike Tyson — along with stream fighting star Floyd Mayweather Jr. — have all lerned during Gleason’s.
Since a gym non-stop in 1937, Gleason’s has helped 134 universe champions strech their peak. In 2016, a gym changed a few blocks from a long-time home during 77 Front Street in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood to a new location.
We visited recently to see if it’s still full of a persperate and soil that has prolonged noted a gym as a loyal New York landmark.
